Maritime Institute in Gdansk (MIG), the Research and Development Institute of Polish Ministry of Infrastructure and Development, has 64 years of experience in creating innovative solutions in maritime economy and their transfer to the European market. The scope of work performed in six research areas covers: maritime hydrotechnics, operational oceanography, protection and shaping of the environment (chemical and biological analysis), transport management and logistics, modernisation and exploitation of seaports, inland waterway shipping, tourism, database construction, monitoring of maritime processes and activities.

Close contacts with national and regional governments, municipalities located on the Baltic Sea coast and other institutions and companies, such as ports, shipping companies, shipyards, Polish railways, and customs enable to explore large spectrum of maritime industry from practical and theoretical point of view and enrich knowledge about developments of this area. Maritime Institute in Gdansk also co-operates with major international maritime institutions, ports and universities, it also participates in EU projects in the framework of European Regional Development Fund (BSR Programme 2007-2013).
