The Cutgana is a research center of the University of Catania dedicated to researching and applying solutions to solve environmental problems. Since 1996, the Cutgana has been providing robust, science-based analysis, management and tools to positively protect natural and agricultural ecosystems, and other heritage assets. The Cutgana goal is to help communities and policy makers to adopt efficient and sustainable approaches. The Cutgana program work includes: management of protected areas; ecosystem service assessment;, environmental impact assessement; environemntal preservation of biodiversity; restoration of degratated and polluted areas; renewable resources management; landscape planning; energy and sustainable techonologies; climate change; natural resource damage assessment; mapping and modelling ecosystem services. The Cutgana conducts workshops, lectures and media events to increase awareness about environmental problems and solutions.
